Supported Import Formats
File types you can import

CSV Files

The most common format. Export your trades from your broker as CSV and import them directly. Ascentia supports standard CSV formats from major brokers.

Excel Files (.xlsx)

Import trades from Excel spreadsheets. Make sure your data includes columns for date, symbol, entry/exit prices, and profit/loss.

Broker-Specific Formats

Direct integration with popular brokers allows automatic import of your trading history. See "Connecting Trading Platforms" for more details.

How to Import Trades
Step-by-step import process
  1. Prepare your file: Export your trading history from your broker or trading platform. Ensure the file includes essential fields like date, symbol, entry/exit prices, and P&L.

Required Fields
Essential data for successful import

Your import file must include these fields:

  • Date/Time: When the trade was opened and closed
  • Symbol/Instrument: What you traded (e.g., AAPL, EUR/USD)
  • Direction: Long or Short
  • Entry Price: Price at which you entered the trade
  • Exit Price: Price at which you exited the trade
  • Quantity/Size: Number of shares, contracts, or lots
  • Profit/Loss: Net result of the trade

Optional but recommended: fees/commissions, stop loss, take profit, trade notes

Troubleshooting Import Issues

Import Failed

Check that your file format is correct and all required fields are present. Remove any special characters or formatting from your spreadsheet.

Duplicate Trades

Ascentia automatically detects and skips duplicate trades based on date, symbol, and prices. You can safely re-import files without creating duplicates.

Incorrect Data

If trades are imported with wrong values, you can delete the import batch and try again with corrected column mapping.

Best Practices
  • Import trades in chronological order for better AI analysis
  • Include as much detail as possible (notes, screenshots, tags)
  • Verify a small sample import before importing large datasets
  • Keep your original files as backup
  • Import regularly to keep your journal up to date
