Ascentia makes it easy to edit and manage your trade history. Whether you need to correct a typo, add missing information, or remove duplicate entries, you have full control over your journal data while maintaining accurate performance statistics.

Editing Trades
How to update and modify existing trade entries.

Editing a Single Trade

  1. Navigate to your trade journal or dashboard
  2. Find the trade you want to edit
  3. Click on the trade to open the detail view
  4. Click the "Edit" button in the top right corner
  5. Modify any fields you need to update
  6. Click "Save Changes" to update the trade

What You Can Edit

  • Trade Details: Entry/exit prices, quantities, dates, and times
  • Financial Data: Commissions, fees, and P&L calculations
  • Risk Parameters: Stop loss, take profit, and position sizing
  • Strategy Info: Tags, categories, and strategy names
  • Notes and Analysis: Add or modify your trade notes
  • Screenshots: Add, remove, or replace chart images
  • Emotional Data: Update confidence levels and psychological notes

Quick Edit Mode

For faster edits, use the quick edit feature:

  • Hover over a trade in your journal list
  • Click the pencil icon that appears
  • Edit the field directly in the list view
  • Press Enter or click outside to save

How to Bulk Edit

  1. Go to your trade journal
  2. Select multiple trades using the checkboxes
  3. Click the "Bulk Actions" button
  4. Choose "Edit Selected Trades"
  5. Modify the fields you want to change
  6. Click "Apply to All Selected" to update all trades

Common Bulk Edit Uses

  • Add Tags: Tag multiple trades with the same strategy or setup
  • Update Commissions: Apply correct commission rates to imported trades
  • Change Categories: Recategorize trades after refining your system
  • Add Notes: Add the same note to related trades
  • Adjust Dates: Fix timezone issues on multiple trades
Deleting Trades
How to remove trades from your journal safely.

Deleting a Single Trade

  1. Open the trade you want to delete
  2. Click the "Delete" button (usually in the top right or bottom)
  3. Confirm the deletion in the popup dialog
  4. The trade will be permanently removed from your journal

Bulk Delete

  1. Select multiple trades using checkboxes
  2. Click "Bulk Actions" → "Delete Selected"
  3. Review the list of trades to be deleted
  4. Confirm the bulk deletion

When to Delete Trades

  • Duplicate Entries: Remove accidental duplicates from imports
  • Test Trades: Delete practice or demo trades
  • Incorrect Data: Remove trades that can't be corrected
  • Paper Trading: Clear out simulated trades before going live

⚠️ Warning

Deleted trades cannot be recovered. Make sure you really want to remove the trade before confirming deletion. Consider archiving instead if you might need the data later.

Archiving vs Deleting

What is Archiving?

Archiving removes trades from your active journal and statistics without permanently deleting them. Archived trades can be restored at any time.

When to Archive

  • Old Strategies: Trades from strategies you no longer use
  • Different Accounts: Separate demo from live trading data
  • Learning Phase: Keep early trades for reference but exclude from stats
  • Seasonal Trading: Archive off-season trades temporarily

How to Archive

  1. Select the trades you want to archive
  2. Click "Bulk Actions" → "Archive Selected"
  3. Archived trades move to the Archive section
  4. Access archived trades from Settings → Archive
  5. Restore trades anytime by clicking "Unarchive"
Edit History and Audit Trail
Track changes to maintain data integrity.

Ascentia automatically tracks all edits to your trades, creating an audit trail of changes. This helps you maintain accurate records and understand how your data has evolved.

Viewing Edit History

  1. Open any trade
  2. Click "View History" or the clock icon
  3. See all changes made to the trade
  4. View who made changes and when
  5. Optionally revert to a previous version

What's Tracked

  • Date and time of each edit
  • Which fields were changed
  • Old and new values
  • User who made the change (for team accounts)
