What Happens When You Cancel
When you cancel your subscription, here's what to expect:
- Immediate Effect - Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
- Continued Access - You retain full access until your paid period ends
- No Refunds - Cancellations don't qualify for prorated refunds
- Data Retention - Your data is preserved for 90 days after cancellation
- Feature Access - Premium features become unavailable after the billing period ends
Alternatives to Canceling
Before canceling, consider these alternatives:
- Downgrade - Switch to a lower-tier plan to reduce costs
- Pause Subscription - Take a temporary break (contact support)
- Annual Billing - Save up to 17% by switching to annual payments
- Contact Support - We may be able to help with specific concerns
Data Export
Before canceling, we recommend exporting your data:
- Go to your account settings
- Navigate to "Data Export"
- Select the data you want to export
- Download your complete trading history and analysis
This ensures you have a backup of all your trading data, journal entries, and AI insights.
Cancellation Steps
- Sign In - Log in to your Ascentia account at www.ascentia.app
- Navigate to Settings - Click on your profile icon and select "Account Settings"
- Go to Billing - Select "Billing & Subscriptions" from the settings menu
- Find Subscription - Locate your active subscription in the subscription section
- Click Cancel - Click the "Cancel Subscription" button
- Provide Feedback - Optionally share why you're canceling (helps us improve)
- Confirm Cancellation - Review the cancellation details and confirm
- Receive Confirmation - You'll receive an email confirming your cancellation
Cancellation Confirmation
After canceling, you'll receive a confirmation email that includes:
- Cancellation confirmation number
- Date when your access will end
- Information about data retention
- Instructions for reactivating your subscription
Important Notes
- You must cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date to avoid being charged
- Canceling doesn't delete your account - you can reactivate anytime
- If you cancel by mistake, contact support immediately to reverse it
Access Period
After canceling, you'll continue to have full access to Ascentia until the end of your current billing period. For example:
- If you cancel on January 15th and your billing date is January 30th, you have access until January 30th
- All premium features remain available during this time
- You can still export data and use AI insights
- Your trading journal remains fully functional
Data Retention Policy
Your data is handled according to our retention policy:
- 90-Day Grace Period - All data is preserved for 90 days after cancellation
- Read-Only Access - You can view (but not edit) your data during this period
- Reactivation - Reactivate within 90 days to restore full access
- Data Deletion - After 90 days, data is permanently deleted unless you reactivate
Free Account Features
After your subscription ends, your account converts to a free tier with limited features:
- View up to 50 most recent trades
- Basic performance metrics
- Limited AI insights (5 per month)
- No advanced analytics or custom reports
- No broker integrations
You can upgrade anytime to regain access to premium features.
Reactivation Process
You can reactivate your subscription at any time:
- Log in to your Ascentia account
- Go to Billing & Subscriptions in settings
- Click "Reactivate Subscription"
- Choose your plan (same plan or different tier)
- Confirm payment method
- Complete reactivation
Data Restoration
When you reactivate within 90 days:
- Full Data Restoration - All your trading data, journal entries, and settings are restored
- Immediate Access - Premium features are available immediately after payment
- No Data Loss - Everything is exactly as you left it
- New Billing Cycle - A new billing cycle starts from the reactivation date
After 90 Days
If you reactivate after the 90-day grace period:
- Your account is treated as a new subscription
- Historical data is not recoverable
- You'll need to reimport your trading data
- Previous settings and preferences are reset
Tip: If you think you might return, reactivate within 90 days to preserve your data.
